Overcoming lust

Happy Sunday, family, the bible verse of the week – 2/21/2021 is in Romans 13:14. The message is about conquering the desires of the flesh and overcoming lust. Yes, in Christ, you can overcome lust.

God is Light, and therefore as believers of Jesus Christ, you should walk in his brightness. When you become a saved person, you have passed from darkness into God’s marvelous Light. You are no longer who you were previously; you are now a new creature in Christ.

As you continue your walk with Jesus Christ, you learn to apply the word of God in your life. The Lord helps you as you begin to change from the inside out. That is from how you think, speak and live your life. You are to walk in the Spirit and not after the flesh.

How to overcome lust of the flesh

My friend, here are five tips to help you overcome the lust of the flesh. It will help you be cloth in the righteousness of Christ as you walk in the Spirit.

Read the bible – It is the word of God.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Timothy 3:16.

Pray and talk to God.

Pray without ceasing. 1 Thessalonians 5:17.

Meditate – Set your mind on the word of God.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. Psalm 1:2.

Be a doer – Obey the word of God. For example; The word of God says, do not steal, then do not steal. Love the brethren, then love the brethren.

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. James 1:22.

Submit yourself to God’s authority.

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7.
