Righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit

Blessed day, family, the bible verse, closing out the year of 2021 is in Romans 14:17. The message, The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

The kingdom of God is not a matter of external things like the food we eat daily. Though the word is nourishing, it is spiritual food for our souls. The word of God is everything we need and, everything we need is in Him.

The physical food we eat to supply our bodies with energy gives us the strength needed for physical activities. When our bodies run out of fuel, the circle starts all over again. We eat for the physical ability to function throughout the day.

The word of God sustains the believer as we patiently await the return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The engrafted word can save our souls and keep us from falling into sin. The scriptures are also our practical guide to daily living. The word of God is everlasting; it is eternal.

The bread of God

The Bread of God is Jesus Christ; He is The Word.

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4.

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. John 6:33.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. John 6:51.

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. John 6:35.

The strong in faith

Romans Chapter 14 is a signal for; the strong in faith to love the weak brethren. The strong should not use their liberty in Christ to cause the weaker vessel to stumble because of meat.

The emphasis on meat and drink is unnecessary and irrelevant in the kingdom. The kingdom of God is spiritual realities such as righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

It involves our walk with Christ and furthering the kingdom of God through the works of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of God helps us to work out righteousness, seek the peace that unifies the body of Christ, and fill our hearts with the joy of Himself.

Peace and joy are fruits of the Holy Spirit. Righteousness is the workings of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

Now let us put aside the temporal joy of appeasing selfish desire for the spiritual delight of considering the wellbeing of the brethren.

Righteousness

Righteousness is in the works that have to do with your thought and action. It is how Christians should live; we commit our ways to the Lord in word and deed.

He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. Psalms 15:2.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17.

Here are three facts about righteousness

Its essence is truth.

• He that speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit. Proverbs 12:17.

Faith in God is trust, confidence.

• Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Galatians 3:6.

It is obedience to the word of God.

• Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. 1 Corinthians 15:34.

Peace

As believers in Christ, we should seek the peace that unifies the body of Christ in one accord.

Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. Psalms 34:14.

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord. Hebrews 12:14.

Here are five facts about peace

The works of God are sown, in peace.

• And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. James 3:18.

Children of God are peacemakers.

• Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Matthew 5:9.

The God of peace.

• But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith. Galatians 5:22.

God keeps our minds focused on His truth.

• And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and mind through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7.

Your trust in God defeats anxiety.

• I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety. Psalms 4:8.

Joy

Equivalent words that come to mind are gladness, delight, rejoicing, and happiness.

In the gospel of Christ, the scriptures speak numerous times on joy and rejoicing. The Lord wants us to be happy and rejoice in Him, even in the face of persecution.

We are not running this race in vain, our Redeemer lives, and our salvation in Him is secured. My brethren, this is the fullness of joy in the Holy Spirit.

I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. Psalms 122:1.

CLOSING STATEMENT

When I think of Joy, fulfillment comes to mind. The joy of this world is temporal; it is short-lived. The joy of the Lord remains, and He is in you, forever with you. What a blessing, brethren.

As we embark on the New Year 2022, my heart is to carry this scripture with me. It concerns our daily walk with Christ. Work out righteousness in obedience to the Word of God. To seek peace and pursue it with my fellow brethren in Christ. The heart that rejoices in the Lord, always.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10.

My prayer family is that your hearts align with the word of God, that you store up for yourselves heavenly treasures. Store treasures where moth does not corrupt, for great is your reward in heaven.

Do the good works, seek peace with one another, and rejoice in the Lord our God.

Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4.
